Labor Day Weekend September 4-6, 2015
In 2015, for the first time, the whole weekend (except for Sunday night) will be devoted to English Country Dancing. But it will still be English the way contra dancers like it - full of energy and joyous sponteneity, plus the spit and polish and interesting music that English dancers like.
The Caller
The popular caller Brad Foster is coming to call the dances. Brad has been calling (and building dance communities) for 40 years, and calls at dance weeks and dance weekends in the U.S., Canada, and overseas. He was the Executive and Artistic Director of CDSS for 28 years, and has been given the honor of adding "Emeritus" to that title. In addition to his renowned calling and teaching, Brad is an accomplished player of piano, accordion and concertina.
It was recently announced that Brad is the 2015 recipient of the "Lifetime Contribution Award" given by CDSS for "long term and exceptional contribution to the mission of CDSS."
The Band
We're bringing the amazing Mr. Jonathan Jensen to play piano or whatever else he chooses to play (see the picture to the right). Jonathan has probably written more tunes for new English dances than any other composer. He will join our beloved wild woman of the flute, Miranda Arana, who is a member of our beloved band of last year, Ladies at Play. Rounding out the band will be local favorite, Martha Edwards on fiddle. Be prepared for some spirited music-making!

Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Monday Club
- 8-11 pm English Country Dance, calling by Brad Foster
- 11 pm After Party at the Monday Club
Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Monday Club
- 10 am-12 pm English workshop with Brad Foster
- 12-2 pm Lunch on your own
- 2-4 pm English workshop with Brad Foster
- 4-8 pm Nap, dinner on your own, dress
- 8-11 pm English Country Dance Ball (dressy attire)
- 11 pm After Party at the Monday Club
Sunday morning-Afternoon, September 6, 2015
- 11am-1:30pm Potluck Brunch at Mary Schmidt's house in Kirkwood
- 2:30-4pm Callers Workshop at the Monday Club to recorded music - Callers bring your cards! Dancers bring your feet!

Sunday evening, September 6, 2015 at the Monday Club
- 7-10 pm Contra Dance - the regular Childgrove Country Dancers Sunday contra dance at the Monday Club ($7)
While this dance is not, strictly speaking, a part of the weekend, there's a tradition that many weekend attendees also enjoy contra dancing, so they stay, and we all have a blast! Monday, September 7, is Labor Day - you can sleep in, and still make it back home before work on Tuesday.
